The exciting new Grand Soleil 45 is achieving record sales in the UK and elsewhere. Offering an unrivaled combination of sparkling sailing performance, beautiful lines and top build quality, there is no other cruiser racer in its class which can give the short-handed cruiser or top level racing enthusiast so much. The construction uses a galvanized steel frame to take the loads of the keel, mast base and rigging - creating a very stiff and low centre of gravity feel. The IRC ratings are very competitive - the racing version is 1.098 and the performance cruising version is 1.068. The first notable success has been victory at Spi Ouest - doubtless with many more to follow.
2 IMS World Championships, 3 IMS European Championships, 3 IMS Italian Championships, 2 times winner at the Copa del Rey and also the Fastnet Race; these are the results of our yachts during the last 3 years in the most challenging and prominent regattas in Europe. Cantiere del Pardo clearly realizes that a high level regatta provides the best test-bed for materials, the study of sail plans, positioning and sizing of deck hardware, the hydrodynamic tuning of all immersed appendages and the ideal calculation and dimension of the keel. The results obtained by Grand Soleil and in the case of the 45 designers Judel Vrolijk represent, without reserve, the quality of the work achieved.
At Cantiere del Pardo, maximum priority is given to the question of safety and structural strength.
The galvanized steel grid, which is attached to the hull with a metal/acrylic chemical bond and further reinforced with a multi-axial cloth, provides stiffness and strength unheard of in laminated hull structures.
The one-piece grid structure is designed to uniformly distribute keel, mast and chain plate loads.
This has the added advantage of lowering the Center of Gravity of the boat and also improving the stiffness of the hull thus providing the owner with superior sailing characteristics.
