The Ocean Alexander 486 Pilothouse is a sturdy raised-pilothouse design with the strictly-business appearance of a bluewater passagemaker. The 486 combines a large pilothouse, pleasing contemporary style, and a classic hull profile. The large pilothouse opens onto a full walk-around deck for easy access fore and aft. From the pilothouse, one descends to the forward stateroom and then three steps down and aft to a second full stateroom. Efficient utilization of hull volume allows both staterooms to have full double berths as well as separate heads and showers. A large flybridge with a fully outfitted helm extends from atop the pilothouse to the stern and is accessed via a lighted stairway from the pilothouse or a ladder in the cockpit. Aft of the pilothouse are the galley and the saloon, with large side windows letting in lots of light, plus double sliding glass and teak doors opening onto the aft cockpit. With teak and holly floors in the pilothouse, teak parquet flooring throughout the interior, teak panels and cabinetry in the galley, teak decking in the cockpit, and teak accents everywhere, the 486 really looks like a yacht.
Entering the Main Salon from the Cockpit to port is a sofa and a Hi/Lo coffee table. Opposite to starboard are two chairs. A flat screen TV is mounted on the counter forward. Open to the Main Salon forward is the large fully equipped U-shaped Galley with Corian counter tops and abundant teak drawer and locker space. There are large windows port and starboard providing beautiful views and generous natural light. The central vacuum is handy for keeping things "Tidy"
Going forward to starboard step up to the Pilothouse which features a fully instrumented helm console, comfortable helm seat, large L-shaped settee with table along the aft bulkhead and steps up to the Flybridge. To starboard is a door to the side deck.
Continuing forward to starboard is the stairway down to the staterooms. The Master Stateroom is aft and features a walk-around queen berth, hanging locker and drawer storage. The ensuite head is to port and features a molded sink, medicine cabinet, Vacu-flush toilet and separate stall shower. The Guest Stateroom is forward and features an island queen berth, hanging locker and drawer storage. The ensuite head features a molded sink, medicine cabinet, Vacu- flush toilet and separate stall shower.
