Accommodation

This is where the current owners did an incredible job of carefully improving on this iconic design and creating modern, open, living spaces while maintaining timeless style.

The two most impressive spaces are the huge flybridge and the interior salon.

The flybridge, with its massive bimini top, custom-made L-shaped settee, and plenty of seating is the perfect place for visiting with family and friends while taking in our beautiful coast.

The upper helm station is simple and uncluttered with everything you need close at hand. Engine controls, bow thruster joystick, windlass up and down buttons, Raymarine Axiom Pro 12” display as well as a truly classic Robert Swanson airhorn for when you need to ‘communicate’ with a sound signaling device.

The interior salon is another area that has been updated into an open-concept living space that will ensure everyone feels welcome and included. Forward is the lower helm station with its new Raymarine Axiom Pro 16’ display, radar, AIS, VHF radios, and system monitoring and controls. The main salon has a comfortable dinette with a custom table with an extendable leaf to seat eight when you want to. The aft of the main salon area is the galley, perfectly incorporated into the space. With all you need close at hand, the galley is an integral part of the salon.

The sleeping accommodations are split into two spaces. The aft cabin has two large single berths with comfortable dual-density foam mattresses with plenty of storage and a large door that leads to the aft cockpit. Forward is the large aft head with a separate shower stall, electric toilet, and vanity. The sanitation hoses, macerator pump, and tank monitor were replaced in 2022.

In the bow is the V-berth as well as the forward head. This is the perfect space for visitors and enables great privacy and separate sleeping spaces. Across from the forward head is the electrical room with access to electrical panels, tool storage, and a hanging locker.

Navigation, Electronics and Electrical

Hull and Deck

Monk McQueen is the dream team that helped evolve and define what makes a proper cruiser on the West Coast. Designed by Ed Monk and built in British Columbia by McQueen Boatworks, this team created some of the most desirable yachts of the era. Ed Monk is known for crafting beautiful, iconic, and functional yachts. McQueen Boatworks developed a well-earned reputation for building high-quality boats that stand the test of time.

Together Monk McQueen launched many timeless designs, that are functional, beautiful, and long-lasting. From its original high-quality build through today, Branta II has been lovingly maintained and upgraded.

Since purchasing Branta II in 1990, the owners have overseen the re-building of much of the superstructure of the vessel including the cabin roof, teak decks, swim grid, and headliner.  All the upgrades since 1990 have been completed by Phillbrooks Boatyard in Sydney B.C. and have been completed to the highest standards.

The decks were re-done and teak strips were laid over epoxy-coated marine plywood and vacuum bagged to ensure water-tight decks that are beautiful and low maintenance.

The cabin top deck is painted with Awlgrip while the Alexseal covers the hull. Both are exceptionally durable, two-part polyurethane paints made to last and look beautiful with great color retention and gloss.

The owners have a deep history of racing sailboats and having a fair hull is almost an obsession. It is obvious when you first see Branta II that someone has spent a lot of time making sure the hull is as smooth and clean as a sailboat about to enter an important race.

The hull, with full-length keel, is made from red cedar above the water line and African mahogany below the waterline on bent oak frames.
